What drives the cost of website design?
Number of unique layouts. Ten pages that share two layouts cost far less than five pages that are each designed from scratch.
Motion and interaction. Fades and hover states add little. Scroll-driven storytelling, where sections pin and animate as you scroll, takes design and engineering time to feel smooth.
3D. A single 3D hero is a contained job. Several scenes with camera moves, or a configurator with many product options, is the biggest single cost driver.
Content. If you supply final copy, photos and 3D files, the project moves faster. Writing, photography and modelling are extras.
Integrations. Stores, booking systems, CRMs and multi-language setups each add scope.
Average cost of website design for a small business
Most small businesses spend between $3,000 and $10,000 on a professionally designed website. A simple brochure site sits at the low end. An interactive website that stands out from competitors, with scroll animation and a 3D hero, typically lands in the middle of that range.
The cheaper route is a template. If your budget is under $2,000, our website template library has 250 animated and 3D designs you can build yourself with Lovable, Bolt or Claude, from $29.99 a month.
Is a custom website worth it?
A custom design is worth it when your website is your storefront: when a visitor’s first five seconds decide whether they trust you. For many brands, a site that is memorable converts better and gets shared more, which pays the difference back.
