Lava Metaballs: an interactive 3D cursor template
Raymarched lava blobs that drift, merge and split; the cursor is a blob too and melts into the others.
Try it: Move to melt in · click to swell. Open the live Lava Metaballs full screen.
Where the Lava Metaballs works best
Music, nightlife and beverage brands, or a bold hero for a creative studio that wants motion without footage.
How it is built
A full-screen fragment shader raymarches signed-distance spheres joined with a smooth minimum, and the cursor is simply one more sphere in the field. The whole effect is plain three.js in one module script. It renders only while it is on screen and caps the pixel ratio on high-density displays to protect performance.
Add it to your website
- Add a Code, Embed or Custom HTML block where the effect should sit (Webflow, Framer, WordPress, GoHighLevel, Shopify or plain HTML).
- Paste the snippet. It is one element and one script; three.js loads from a CDN.
- Edit the colours and words in the settings block, then publish.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Lava Metaballs template free?
Anyone can open it live and try the interaction. Copying the code is included with a Scrollhaus plan.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. On touch screens it runs a gentle automatic motion so the scene is never still, and taps trigger the click interaction.
Do I need Spline or three.js experience?
No. It is one HTML element and one module script. Colours, text and images live in a settings block at the top.

- Particle Sphere Repel: Nine thousand glowing particles on a sphere that part around the cursor and burst outward on click.
- Hyperspace Tunnel: A neon ring tunnel with light streaks that bends toward the cursor; a click kicks it into warp speed.
