Newton’s Cradle: an interactive 3D cursor template

A chrome Newton’s cradle that passes motion through the row; brush an end ball or drag one back and let go.

Try it: Brush an end ball · drag a ball to pull it back. Open the live Newton’s Cradle full screen.

Where the Newton’s Cradle works best

Physics and education, engineering, executive and office products.

How it is built

Each ball is a pendulum, and equal masses colliding elastically swap velocities, which is exactly what makes a cradle pass motion along. The whole effect is plain three.js in one module script. It renders only while it is on screen and caps the pixel ratio on high-density displays to protect performance.

Add it to your website

  1. Add a Code, Embed or Custom HTML block where the effect should sit (Webflow, Framer, WordPress, GoHighLevel, Shopify or plain HTML).
  2. Paste the snippet. It is one element and one script; three.js loads from a CDN.
  3. Edit the colours and words in the settings block, then publish.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Newton’s Cradle template free?

Anyone can open it live and try the interaction. Copying the code is included with a Scrollhaus plan.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. On touch screens it runs a gentle automatic motion so the scene is never still, and taps trigger the click interaction.

Do I need Spline or three.js experience?

No. It is one HTML element and one module script. Colours, text and images live in a settings block at the top.
